My methodology adapts to the needs of the student, although I usually use the tools that have given me the best results during my years of teaching English and Biology.
For people preparing for exams or learning the language independently, I explain the topic and give them practice exercises. Once the concept begins to be incorporated, we may relate it to previous classes or knowledge and discuss them. We also study lyrics from songs, chapters of animated series, and other didactic and cultural tools.
I often work with exercises because I believe it's important for the student to be able to put into practice what they've learned, while songs and series serve to contextualize the language and learn how to use it. I also assign homework exercises to assess if they have incorporated the topic and to practice between classes. Anyways, as I've said before, classes are always adapted to the learning style and preferences of the student.
