Acerca de Helena
Bienvenidos! Soy Helena. I am a Spanish native speaker, from Barcelona, although I have lived abroad for 15 years, in Ireland and Japan. I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language in several institutions, such as the Instituto Cervantes in Dublin and Tokio, as well as in several Universities: University of Limerick, Maynooth University, and Kyoto University. In the latter, I was the Department Coordinator and worked in the development of new teaching methodologies to promote a more active involvement of the language student.

In my lessons, I organise real-life situations that promote the active participation of the student; it's an active methodology that gives priority to the development of oral skills in Spanish while covering a wide range of grammar topics.
My knowledge of the cognitive processes involved in language learning, of the English grammar, and my experience teaching students from different nationalities enables me to better understand students’ needs at each stage of their learning process.
