Do you understand some Spanish, but still feel blocked when you try to speak?
Maybe you have studied grammar, completed exercises or tried different methods, but when it is time to communicate, everything feels slower than you expected. You translate in your head, doubt the grammar or feel that your Spanish does not sound as natural as you would like.
The problem is not that you are not capable. Very often, the problem is how the language has been explained, organised and practised.
My name is Sonia Mejías, and I am a Spanish teacher with more than ten years of experience. I specialise in helping learners understand how Spanish really works, so they can speak with more confidence, clarity and naturalness.
My lessons are based on my own methodology, developed through years of teaching and refined with students who have achieved very satisfactory results. I combine cognitive grammar, learning psychology, pronunciation, communication and personalised feedback to help you stop memorising isolated rules and start using Spanish as a meaningful system.
First, we identify what is really blocking you: mental translation, fear of mistakes, grammar confusion, lack of vocabulary activation, pronunciation difficulties or low fluency.
Then we build a clear and personalised learning path adapted to your goals, pace and learning profile.
The lessons follow the official A1–C2 levels, the Common European Framework of Reference and the guidelines of the Instituto Cervantes, but every class is practical, structured and adapted to the way you learn best.

Mi metodología se basa en un enfoque comunicativo, activo y centrado en las necesidades que presenta el alumno. Los contenidos que enseño se encuentran dentro del Programa del Instituto Cervantes (Institución Oficial de la enseñanza del español) y de las recomendaciones de los niveles A1-C2 de los exámenes DELE. Se practicarán las cuatro habilidades básicas (comprensión oral, auditiva y producción oral y escrita) mediante los temas que el alumno prefiera tratar.
Por otro lado, dispongo de una gran cantidad de recursos y materiales, como son vídeos, canciones, audios, Power Points, juegos interactivos, lecturas, adivinanzas, diferentes apps, etc.
Con el paso del tiempo me he ido especializando en la enseñanza de idiomas, concretamente en estos últimos tres años, a la vez que impartía clases me formaba como profesora de Español en diversas instituciones. La última titulación que he finalizado ha sido el Máster Universitario en Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Extranjera por la UNIR (Universidad Internacional de La Rioja).
Además cuento con experiencia en el extranjero enseñando español tanto a niños como a personas adultas.
My methodology is based on a communicative, active approach focused on the needs presented by the student. The contents I teach are within the Program of the Instituto Cervantes (Official Institution for the teaching of Spanish) and the recommendations for levels A1-C2 of the DELE exams. The four basic skills (oral and listening comprehension and oral and written production) will be practiced through the topics that the student prefers to deal with.
On the other hand, I have a large number of resources and materials, such as videos, songs, audios, Power Points, interactive games, readings, riddles, different apps, etc.
Over time I have been specializing in language teaching, specifically in the last three years, while I was teaching classes I was training as a Spanish teacher in various institutions. The last degree I have completed was the Master's Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language by UNIR (International University of La Rioja).
I also have experience abroad teaching Spanish to both children and adults.
