Acerca de Semyase
Hi, I'm Semyase, I have a degree in psychology and I live in Guadalajara. Spanish is my native language, and I have experience teaching the language to individuals and groups.
I like to work with students from all over the world who want to learn the language for practical use in real and everyday situations, so I can show you the city while your learning new vocabulary and ways to ask questions, explain yourself, buy things, and so much more.
My teaching method is focused on practical use of the language, helping you communicate effectively in the situations that you face or are likely to encounter.
When teaching Spanish, I like to make use of my psychology training, mostly to make your language acquisition fun and natural.
To that end, my training style emphasises speaking first (just as you learned your own language), and writing to reinforce your learning afterwards. I will also give you interactive vocabulary and grammar exercises that you can practize in your spare time on the language time .

I offer 3 formats of classes - by phone, by Skype/Zoom video call, or in person in central Guadalajara.
• By phone:
30 minute or 60 minute sessions, doing roleplays based in your interests or needs.
EXCELLENT for developing your listening skills, and for keeping your regular speaking practise. Don't call me, I'll call you! - at the time that you choose, and I'll pay. ;-p
• By Skype/Zoom video call:
So convenient - have the class wherever you are in the world, and benefit from seeing visual clues and body language.
• In person:
If you are based in Guadalajara then we can have your classes in person; either over a coffee (included!) in one of our Language Time cafés in Americana, or we can take a walking city lesson, where you get to know the city and the culture en español.
• Online:
We have developed the Language Time platform which you can use in your spare time from your cellphone or computer. There are loads of interactive resources - vocab and grammar exercises, and articles for you to read and leave comments on. Coming soon - podcasts to help your listening!

Possibilities:
1. You plan to come to México in the near future, and you want to learn/improve your Spanish:
Have distance classes to prepare you for your arrival, including the conversations you will need to have with airport officials, taxi drivers and hotel staff.
2. You are in Guadalajara and want to have a more local and cultural experience, learning through immersion:
Combine phone classes with in person cultural classes while knowing the city like a local.
3. You were recently in a Spanish speaking country, and you want to keep your Spanish ticking over until you go back again.
Combine video classes with phone classes to further improve your Spanish for next time.

What works best:
- 3 sessions per week of speaking Spanish (even if just for 30 minutes)
- Made up of 1.5 hours' phone sessions and 1 hour either video or in person
- online exercises & joining the conversation on language time
You choose how, when and where you want the classes. Take them as you like.
BUT....to make any kind of progress in a language (or in developing any skill) requires regular practice, as well as making some kind of commitment. Buying one class here or there justs ain't gonna cut it, buddy!
I sell my classes in packages of hours, which you can combine and use as you like within a certain time period of 1, 2, or months.
*Cancellations* - you can cancel or reschedule your sessions as you like (up to 3 hours before the scheduled class time), as long as these changes are made on my online booking platform, and you use your hours within the allowed number of months.
I believe in 100% professionalism, but also that learning my beautiful language should be enjoyable.
